Fender Squier
3/4 sized Stratocaster -
Modified to be a Tenor length 6 string/4 course instrument.
The Fender Squier 3/4 sized Stratocaster had its neck removed which was then thinned down to make it suitable for four courses. The plate holding the neck in place had to be replaced due to its narrower width. The bridge was removed and replaced with a Tele style tailpiece to accommodate six strings in four courses and the nut was modified to allow for a six string/four course conformation whereby the two bass strings were doubled and the two treble strings were singles.
This modifies the Fender Squier 3/4 sized Stratocaster to become a 22 inch tenor guitar scale length six string/four course instrument, similar to a Rickenbacker Banjoline, which is a six string/four course 26 inch plectrum guitar scale length instrument (see the
Rickenbacker Banjoline section). This shorter scale length instrument allows it to be tuned to CGDA-based turnings such as cCgGda, which cannot be used on instruments with scale lengths greater than 23 inches.

Fender Squier 3/4 sized Stratocaster
Modified to be a Mandocello with eight strings in four pairs
(Courtesy of Antebellum Instruments).
The guitar was modified by modifying the bridge system to take four matched pairs of strings and two extra tuners were added to the headstock to accommodate the two extra strings. Some Fender Squier Stratocaster Mandocello
conversions have included thinning the neck to make it more
suitable for playing four string courses.
